Palmwoods

Palmwoods is a predominantly residential town in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, just 10 minutes south of Nambour.

Palmwoods is located at the juncture of the region’s most popular tourist network and is, therefore, a popular day trip destination due to its proximity to the Big Pineapple and the Blackall Range.

There are many things to see and do at the Big Pineapple, with recent renovations adding even more attractions, including a boutique zoo that houses native and exotic animals. Hop on the Pineapple Train, which departs every half hour, and enjoy the trip around the Big Pineapple, which explores the rainforest, orchids, bamboo forest and passes by the onsite zoo. Get off at Koala Station if you want to visit the zoo.

During your stay in Palmwoods, stop by Kondalilla Falls, a beautiful waterfall located within the Kondalilla National Park. Located just 20 minutes from Palmwoods, the falls consist of a 90m waterfall where the Skene Creek drops to the rainforest valley below. Above the falls, you will see a dense eucalypt forest which joins with a beautiful rainforest. Here, you will find over 100 bird species, 70 species of reptiles and 30 species of frogs.

Palmwood’s scenic orchards are also worth exploring. Visit any of these gardens and orchards where local farmers grow various fruits and vegetables, including custard apples, avocado, pawpaw, banana and orange. Palmwoods is also serviced by a local public transport network, including trains and buses, and has a range of amenities, including a supermarket, cafes and restaurants.

If you are looking for accommodation at Palmwoods, there are a few privately run B&B’s available; however, there are many more accommodation options in the nearby township of Montville. Click the link below to find the best accommodation deals on the Sunshine Coast.
