The trail getting to and from the summit is relatively easy and very scenic. It’s one of the easiest trails to do on the Sunshine Coast. You can even bring along the entire family with kids and grandparents. The best time to climb is early in the morning or late in the afternoon, as this is when you have better chances of enjoying a sunrise or sunset. It should take only an hour to complete the summit and get to the top. If you’re a runner, you can even complete the trail in as little as 20 minutes!

Visiting Mount Coolum will reward you with incredible views of the Glass House Mountains and Point Cartwright, as well as the Blackall Range and Noosa Heads. For nature lovers, it’s interesting to know that montane heath, a rare and threatened plant community, thrives on the summit of the mountain and a few others in the Glass House Mountains. These are the only places you’ll find this plant. More than 700 plant species have been identified, including 600 flowers, around 50 ferns, and 100 lesser plant species such as lichens and mosses.

Spend time exploring the rest of the national park; there are many stunning natural sights to discover. There are campsites located in Coolum Beach and Mudjimba, though you also can book hotel and motel accommodation nearby. There are streams and other trails to check out in the park.

Mount Coolum is truly one of the most breathtaking sights on the Sunshine Coast, especially if you experience it from the top.

Make sure you explore the range of accommodation choices within the area, with a wide range of hotels, caravan parks, holiday houses, motels, resorts and apartments.
