Cooran

Cooran is a quiet farming suburb located on the northern edges of the Sunshine Coast, approximately 35kms northwest of Noosa.

Cooran is easily accessible via the Bruce Highway, and visitors will immediately notice Mount Cooroora, the tallest peak in this area.

Cooran borders the Tuchekoi National Park, which is home to Mount Cooroora. This 439-metre mountain challenges runners at the annual Pomona King of the Mountain race, which challenges competitors to run up the face of Mt. Cooroora. The festival program also includes a 3km Family Fun Run, 2.1km Pram Push, Primary School Relay, Tug-O-War and Mountain Dash. There is also skate park competitions, music jam sessions, live music, buskers, rides and a sideshow alley.

Trails around the base of the mountain provide opportunities for hiking and horse and mountain bike riding, so visitors coming to Cooran should check out tours available in this area.
