Cooloola Cove is a town located along the south-western area of Tin Can Bay.
Its name comes from an Aboriginal word that refers to a cypress pine that used to grow in the coastal sand dunes.

More residential developments and commercialisation sprung up in Cooloola Cove from 2005. Currently, there are already several shopping centres, housing estates, and community markets around town. However, most of the exciting tourist attractions are in Tin Can Bay Itself. These include the Barnacles Dolphin Centre, Fraser Island Nature Tours, Rainbow Beach, boating, fishing, and water sports.
The Barnacles Dolphin Centre is one of the most famous attractions, and for a good reason. It’s the only place you can come to these magical sea mammals, but be sure to arrive at 7am. The centre is run by volunteers who are happy to share interesting information about these rare Indo-Pacific dolphins.
Fraser Island Nature Tours are a terrific way to explore all the lovely sights and experiences on the island. This family-owned company puts lots of care and thought into delivering a unique tour experience, including incredible things such as authentic Aussie BBQs. Some of the attractions included in the tours are Rainbow Beach, shipwrecks, Lake McKenzie or Lake Birrabeen, and Eli Creek.
Cooloola Cove is more than just a residential area; there are many lovely things to see and do around here for everyone. Make sure to check out the range of accommodation options nearby, including some holiday houses, hotels, apartments, resorts, and caravan parks.
