The biggest Olympic-distance triathlon in the world, Noosa Tri, is raced around the town’s stunning main beach, town centre, and hinterland…all the way to the finish line with its famous walk of fame. And that’s just the racing. Noosa Triathlon
A pinnacle event on the Australian sporting calendar, the Garmin Noosa tri is ranked one of the world’s top 10 triathlons for good reason. When the best athletes, the biggest competitor field, the beautiful beach-side vibe and the week-long festivities of Noosa all come together, there’s nowhere else you’ll want to be.
2XU Swim Course
1500m oblong swim in the beautiful clear waters of Laguna Bay off iconic Noosa Main Beach. Athletes will swim in an anti-clockwise direction with the first turn buoy at 610 metres, with swimmers completing three left-hand turns and a right turn before returning to shore. Be sure not to be too distracted by the local sea turtles!
Bike Course
40km out and back gives you a taste of the lush Noosa hinterland. You’ll get a unique chance to take in all that the Noosa area Has to offer. .The course features the infamous 2km Garmin Hill Climb 10km into the ride; you’ll need to use your leg power here!
ASICS Run Course
10km of fast and flat roads along Noosa Parade, with the crowds cheering you on all the way to the finish line. 5 Aid stations out on the course will keep you well-hydrated and get you to the famous Noosa Tri Blue Carpet finish line.
Transition
Situated on the soft green grass of Noosa Lions Park, the transition is divided into two areas…individuals and teams. Your colour-coded ID wristband will allow you access, but remember where you racked your bike!
Noosa Run Swim Run
An all-action event to kick off an action-packed week at Noosa Tri. Anyone of all ages can take part in this fantastic race, which also plays host to some of the state’s best school kids, battling it out in the hopes of becoming the Noosa Run Swim Run Schools Aquathlon Challenge Champion!
14+ years: Run 1500 meters along Noosa’s pristine Main Beach before swimming 750 meters in the sheltered, warm ocean waters of Laguna Bay. Finish your race with another 1500-meter beach run before crossing the finish line.
8-13 years: Run 500 meters along Noosa Main beach, a 200-meter swim in the bay, and final 500-meter dash to the finish line!
Tour De Noosa – Garth Prowd Ride
Continuing the legacy created by the founder of Noosa Tri, the Garth Prowd Ride is a super-chill 28km ride along part of the Noosa Tri bike course. Soak up the morning sun, throw a bit of banter with your mates and then finish your ride with a free coffee from First Batch at the Woods – you might even meet a legend … or two.
All proceeds from the ride go towards the Garth Prowd OAM Triathlon Scholarship to continue Garth’s legacy in supporting rising stars on the tri circuit to reach their full potential.
The Garth Prowd ride is a cruisy 28km on a Noosa Tri bike course section. It rolls out from Noosa Heads Surf Club to the top of Gyndier Drive before turning back to Noosa.
Your ride finishes with a free coffee and a bit of reminiscing.
Noosa Breakfast Fun Run
Turn Noosa pink on and help raise much-needed funds for the McGrath Foundation.
Grab your friends, family and colleagues… then walk, run or dance your way along the 5km course around Noosa Main Beach, through the boardwalk and back along the beach.
Starting on Park Road (east of Noosa Heads Surf Club), participants will run along Park Rd to the National Park before returning along the boardwalk to Noosa Main Beach. From here, you will weave your way out to the river mouth before running along the beach and back to where you started at the Surf Club. There is one Aid Station serving water at the halfway point as you pass the Groyne.
Noosa 1000 Ocean Swim
While not as old as Noosa Tri itself, the Noosa 1000 Ocean Swim has created its own place in history over the past 24 years.
There is no doubt it is one of Australia’s premier ocean swims and on the bucket list for elites and age-groupers alike.
Indeed, many swimmers come back to Noosa each year just for this race … and why not with a start and finish on one of Australia’s best beaches and plenty of time left over to take in the rest of the action during Noosa Tri week?

Noosa Superkidz Triathlon
Here’s the chance for our future stars to experience the thrill of the action by competing in the kid’s version of the iconic race. It’s all about giving it a go and having fun with your friends and family while keeping fit and healthy!
All kids will receive an official ASICS limited-edition event singlet and a sweet finisher’s medal when they cross the finish line – handed out by one of our Noosa Tri sporting celebrities!

A short, achievable distance on a safe course in and around the beautiful Noosa River:
- 7-10 years: 100m Swim / 3km Cycle / 500m Run
- 11-13 years: 200m Swim / 5km Cycle / 900m Run

This non-stop, action-packed afternoon sees some of Australia’s best athletes of past, present and future (and maybe a few celebs too) battling it out on bikes, in togs and on the road across four electrifying events.
It’s where legends come to play … and you won’t want to miss it.
GWM Australian Open Criterium – Women
Kicking off the Super Saturday afternoon, a star-studded lineup of some of Australia’s best female professional cyclists descends on Noosa for the GWM Australian Open Criterium. It’s always a high-intensity, high-drama race on the super-fast ‘hot dog’ circuit along Noosa Parade, with thousands of cheering fans adding to the electric atmosphere.
ASICS Bolt
The ASICS Bolt is Australia’s premier 5km road race, attracting some of Australia’s best male and female middle-distance runners to battle it out on an exciting, flat, multi-lap course.
You won’t believe how fast they go, and you’ll be close enough to feel the breeze as they cruise by.
GWM Australian Open Criterium – Men
For the final act of Super Saturday, it’s the turn of the best and brightest male cyclists to take on the ‘hot dog’ circuit along Noosa Parade in high-intensity criterium race that never fails to deliver on pure sporting theatre. Who’ll jump off the front? Will it be a bunch sprint? Who’ll leave some skin on the Noosa Parade?
Expect everything as the boys go wheel-to-wheel at speeds you have to see to believe.
Noosa Celebrity Relay Triathlon

Pre Race Info
Check-In
Athlete check-in is on Friday (9am – 7pm) and Saturday (8am – 4pm) in the Check-In Tent at Festival Village, Noosa Woods.
They need to see your photo ID (Driver’s licence, passport, etc.) to check you in and give you your race kit. While we love mates who look out for mates, unfortunately, you can’t check in on behalf of someone else. It’s illegal for someone else to compete under your name or for you to compete under someone else’s name. This is for your safety and that of all competitors, and we must know who is on the course at all times. Please ensure the right team members/individuals are listed on your entry – this can be changed at the Help Desk at Check-In.
In your race kit, you will be issued the following:
- Race Bib Number (to be worn the run)
- Bike Seat Post Number Sticker
- Helmet Number Sticker
- Number tattoo (individual athletes and team runner only)
- ID Wristband (Teams will receive 3 wristbands, 1 for each team member)
- Timing Chip
- Coloured swim cap – latex
- Event Pack – containing ASICS event gear & sponsor giveaways
Please secure your ID wristband before leaving the check-in area on Friday or Saturday. This band will identify you as an official race competitor and must always be worn. The wristband is your means of access to transition over the weekend.
Clydesdale & Athena Weigh In
All Clydesdales and Athenas must Check in at the Help Desk to complete their weigh-in. You will be moved to your age group if you do not meet the eligibility criteria.
Swim Starts
Swim starts are released about two weeks after the event. All competitors will receive their swim caps in their race kit (which you collect at Athlete Check-In). Please check that your swim cap colour reflects the colour of your rolling category start group.
The Noosa Triathlon will once again feature a Rolling Category Wave Start. Athletes will seed themselves within their respective categories or age groups based on their projected swim times.
Within each rolling category start, there will be 4 Start Zones. By seeding yourself with athletes of a similar skill and ability level, you can avoid being overtaken by stronger swimmers.
The four Start Zones are:
Zone 1 – Under 28 minutes
Zone 2 – Between 28 – 31 minutes
Zone 3 – Between 31 – 35 minutes
Zone 4 – Over 35 minutes
Race Day Info
Gear Drop
Gear Drop is located in the Noosa Bus Stop Car Park (across the road from Transition) on race day. It will be open from 5am to 2pm on race day.
It is compulsory to use the Gear Bag provided. This facility is provided because bags cannot be stored in the Transition area. Please attach the gear bag number label in your Race Kit to your bag before dropping it at Gear Drop. Please note that IRONMAN takes full care but no responsibility or liability.
All large bike pumps will be stored separately from your bag. Please number your pump using the pump label from your Race Kit. Any gear left behind will be at Information until 3pm.
Transition Race Morning
The individual transition area will be open from 4:45am – 6am on Sunday morning. All individual competitors must be out of transition by 6am.
AusTriathlon officials will check helmets on entry to the transition area on Sunday morning. Please ensure you have your Helmet Sticker (received at check-in and found in your kit) on your Helmet. Bikes cannot be removed from the compound under any circumstances during this time. The individual transition must be clear before the first wave starts.
Teams Transition
The teams transition will be open from 4:45am on Sunday morning. Access to the team transition area will be from the outside of the Individual transition at the southern end of the transition. All team members must have their ID wristband on to access the transition area, where the team changeover will happen. All team swimmers must be at the swim start by 8:45am. Only team cyclists should remain in the team transition from 9am. We must ensure teams transition is as clear as possible during race times for the safety of all competitors.
A team swimmer must not remove the timing band until within the transition area. The team cyclist must remain in their position in transition with their bike racked until the swimmer has tagged the cyclist and the cyclist has the timing chip secure around their LEFT ankle.
Once returned to transition the team cyclist must rack their bike before the runner can leave on the run leg. Team runners must wait in the team cyclist’s bike rack position. Remember to take the timing band off the cyclist and secure it to your ankle before exiting transition. The runner will wear the timing chip from the time they leave transition until they cross the finish line.
The cyclist must ensure the Bike and Helmet stickers are placed securely in their correct positions. The runner only must clearly display the race number on their front at all times for the run leg.
Timing Chips
Timing results will include swim split, cycle split, run split and finish time as well as overall and category places.
If you do forget your timing band, please report to the Transition Help Desk on Sunday morning before the race, as you will need to be reissued with a whole new timing band & race number. You will be required to pay a $150 fee if timing chip is lost. If you withdraw from the race please inform the Information Tent and return your timing band.
Individuals
The timing band must be worn on the left ankle (you won’t get a time if worn anywhere else).
No timing band = no time.
Teams
All three team members must wear the timing band. The swimmer meets the cyclist at the bike and transfers the timing chip to the cyclist. The runner meets the cyclists at the bike position on the rack and transfers the timing chip.
No timing band = no time.
Timing band must be worn your left ankle.
Post Race Info
Finish Area
The finish area will offer the full post-race experience, where you can relax, immerse into the atmosphere, appreciate a well-earned massage, refuel, and enjoy celebrating your achievement.
As you cross the finish line, you will be directed to the recovery area, where Volunteers will be on hand to take off your timing chip.
There will be medical personnel available if you require treatment, otherwise you will be able to proceed to the recovery area where there will be water, electrolyte and fruit available.
This is an athlete-only area, and family members will need to wait outside of the recovery area.
Presentations
The Presentation Ceremony will be held at the Festival Village – Noosa Woods at 4pm.
Please do not bring your bikes with you as there is limited space to store them.
If you are a place-getter in your category and are unable to stay for presentations, you will need to contact the IRONMAN office within two weeks of the event to arrange the collection of your medal. You will be able to collect your prize from the IRONMAN office or alternatively have your medal posted to you at your expense.

Transition – Bike check out
Bike check-out will be done progressively from 10:30am. Please refer to timings that will be displayed on the end of your bike rack in transition.
Please make sure you have your ID wristband on to verify your race number. Security will check your ID wristband with your bike sticker when exiting the transition area.
Transition will be unsecured from 2pm.
