This fine establishment is dedicated to sharing the cultural and historical heritage of the town and the contributions of the early settlers and explorers.

It’s run by the Woodford Historical Society, a group of volunteers who have a passion for preserving the local history. With a fascinating collection of displays, photographs, and art, it becomes easy to step back in time and imagine what life was like many decades ago. Though the museum is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and every third Sunday of the month, they can accommodate visits outside of this schedule. Admission is completely free.

An impressive historical attraction is the Woodford Durundur Heritage Railway, where you can see a one-of-a-kind collection featuring two-foot gauge steam, petrol and diesel locomotives on display. The Australian Narrow Gauge Railway Museum offers train rides every first and third Sunday of the month.

On the main street, the AS1 Leopard Tank stands tall. This tank, a tribute to Australia’s Service Men and Women, weighs 42 tonnes and is 7 metres long. The AS1 Leopard Tank was one of the most important contributions to military history.

If you have kids, there’s no better place to take them than Cruice Park, just 4km away. This park was built to honour Ludwig Leichhardt, a famous explorer who used the land across the park as his base camp while exploring the town.
