The beach features surf breaks, though it’s best for surfing when there are moderate swells during high tide. A boat can also take you to a great left point which is found on Mudjimba Island. Be wary because the beach is potentially hazardous for swimming due to notorious currents and rips. The only safe spot to swim in is on Marcoola Beach because it’s patrolled. However, the Coolum and Twin Waters resorts also have lifeguards on duty.

Twin Waters Beach has some great fishing in the many rip gutters. For more experienced anglers, head over to Point Arkwright and the river mouth, famed for good rock fishing. Overall, this area is a wonderful place to spend a few days, especially if you enjoy water sports and the outdoors.

The rest of Maroochydore also has so much to offer. Fondly referred to by the locals as Maroochy, this area in the heart of the Sunshine Coast is a terrific place to jumpstart your Queensland holiday. It’s home to more than 200 dining outlets plus incredible shopping and beaches. They also have numerous accommodation options to cater to holidaymakers, no matter your preference and budget.

You can never go wrong by spending a day on any of the beaches. Take your dog along to one of the dog beaches, or spend a lovely afternoon picnicking with your loved ones. Water sports, such as paddleboarding, kayaking, and fishing, are a great way to explore the sights.

Twin Waters Beach is one of many beautiful destinations near Maroochydore.
