The Sunshine Beach Skatepark is a well-loved outdoor skate park. It can get busy sometimes as it’s pretty popular among older kids. It was designed by renowned skatepark designers Council and Convic and unveiled in September 2017. Council and Convic is known worldwide for their excellent construction and design.
Skateboarding is deeply ingrained in the local culture and is quickly growing in popularity. Its roots in Australia can be traced as far back as the ’60s, though back then, the boards available were very simple: sometimes, surfboards with roller-skate wheels attached to the bottom.
But it wasn’t until the early 70’s when the famous Z Boys made skateboarding mainstream. This was also due to the invention of urethane wheels by Frank Nasworthy. It continued to get more famous by the day, and by the ’90s, it was considered an edgy street sport.
Sunshine Beach Skatepark should be on your list when visiting amazing skateparks on the coast.
