Point Cartwright Beach, Accommodation, Walk, Surf, Tide Times, Weather
Point Cartwright Beach is an excellent place for a variety of water sports. However, the beach area is also suitable for a picnic or a walk with sweeping views of Mooloolaba, Mount Coolum, the Mooloolah River, and the Kawana River. If you’re lucky, you may be able to spot some humpback whales as they migrate; turtles are common sights here too.
The beach has grassy slopes, ideal for picnics, and you can find toilet facilities on the Pacific Boulevard. By the end of Harbour Drive is a great park called La Balsa Park, a popular destination for families with young children.
While here, carve out some time to visit the historic Point Cartwright Lighthouse. It’s the third lighthouse that was built to helps ships safely get into Moreton Bay since 1897. The lighthouse is right by the reservoir, and from here, you can enjoy the area’s best views – especially around sunset. The cliff’s balustrade features a memorial; honouring individuals who have passed on. Meanwhile, the large grassy area underneath is perfect for a large family picnic.
Point Cartwright Beach and its lighthouse have everything you need for a memorable day out with the family.
