A major attraction on Point Cartwright is the historic lighthouse, which was the third to be built since 1897 to help ships make their way into Moreton Bay. This lighthouse, which was built in 1978 on the mouth of the Mooloolaba River, is powered by sealed beam lamps while a red sector helps ships in the North West to make their way into the harbour safely. A quick stop to the lighthouse makes for excellent photo ops with sea views, though many locals love making it part of their regular running routine.
The area is best explored on foot as the comprehensive, sandy beach offers fantastic views. It’s close to coffee shops and toilets. Many love frequenting the beach during late afternoons to catch the sunset, so don’t forget your camera. There are many places to take the kids nearby; La Balsa Park is popular among the local families and conveniently situated on the Mooloolah River entrance. It’s a scenic outdoor area with sea views, picnic tables, BBQs, a playground, and exercise equipment. Other attractions include SEA Life, Cotton Tree Park, and the Buderim Rainforest Walk.
Point Cartwright and the nearby attractions provide the ideal backdrop for fun family getaways.
