The beach is also fondly referred to as Noosa Woods by some locals. Along Woods Bay, you’ll find a mangrove area, which is tranquil and provides lots of opportunities for exploration. Just pack some insect repellent, comfortable waterproof footwear, and you’re ready to go.
Noosa Spit Beach also features a scenic trail that’s great for cycling or walking. It’s 2.2 km long and takes you around the river head, its bar, Noosa Groyne beach, the Noosa River, and many more wonderful sights. The trail is primarily flat, but between Hastings Street and the Spit, there are several tracks that you can explore too. Alternatively, you can stay on the pavement for the whole loop.
The beach and the tracks are equipped with basic public amenities, such as shelters, seats, toilets, and spacious grassed areas. Don’t miss sunsets over the river as it’s incredibly picturesque.
When it’s quiet, you can easily spot birds such as the Mangrove Honeyeater, Mangrove Gerygone, and Frog-mouth owls, among many others. Just keep in mind that camping in this area is not prohibited, but it’s easy to find affordable accommodation options nearby.
Noosa Spit Beach is an underrated attraction and one of the gems of the Sunshine Coast, so be sure to check it out during your visit.
