The terrain boasts of a predominantly rocky surface, with some areas being grassy or covered in dense bush and wildflowers. Once you reach the top, you will be treated to marvellous 360-degree views of the surrounding areas. Because it’s easy to reach the summit, this destination is ideal for bushwalkers of all skill levels who want to go walking, hiking, or birdwatching.

Also known as The Saddleback, Mount Elimbah has become a favourite of families vising the Sunshine Coast. After all, the Glass House Mountains are an iconic destination in the hinterland. These craggy peaks are part of the Queensland and National Heritage Register, a nationally significant location. It was none other than Lieutenant James Cook who named the mountains as he was on his famous voyage along the east coast of Australia.

The other peaks include Mount Beerwah, Mount Beerburrum, Mount Coochin, Mount Coonowrin, Mount Tibrogargan, Mount Ngunngun, Mount Tibberoowuccum, Wild Horse Mountain, Mount Tunbubudla, and Mount Miketeebumulgrai.

Not to be missed is the Beerburrum State Forest, where visitors can go on a picnic and take in the gorgeous views. Several walking tracks, too, so you can choose one that suits your fitness abilities and enjoy the panoramic views before heading back down. Check out which tracks are recommended, as some are more challenging while others are easy or moderate.

Mount Elimbah and the rest of the Glass House Mountains hold spiritual significance to the Aboriginal traditional owners. This is why there are numerous ceremonial sites on these mountains that remain protected today.

Don’t forget to visit during your trip to the Sunshine Coast – it will be one of the most unforgettable adventures you’ll have here.
