Located in the middle of the Maroochy River, Chambers Island is a fantastic getaway that can be accessed by the footbridge or boat.
Chambers Island is a great place to retreat when the beaches are bustling with tourists, as this is often considered the ‘hidden gem’ of the Sunshine Coast.
Chambers Island, Fishing, Weddings, Playground & Map, Maroochydore
You will often find people on the island sailing, paddleboarding, jet skiing, boating, kayaking and canoeing. You will also find that this is an excellent spot for fishing or drop a crab pot into the water as you are likely to catch flathead, trevally, bream or whiting.
There are toilet facilities on the island, and you can hire watercraft from the boat hire stores nearby. Over near the picnic area, you can find a children’s playground with a swing set and slide, which will keep your kids entertained for hours. Bring a picnic and enjoy the outdoors at one of the picnic tables.
If you don’t want to cook, you can go back to the footbridge to visit one of the nearby cafes and shops for burgers, fish, chips and cold drinks.
So stop past Chambers Island on your next Sunshine Coast holiday.
Can you take your Dogs over to the Island
Hi Deborah,
I can’t find an official word from the council on the matter, but a local business on Facebook has stated that Dogs are permitted as long as they are on a lead and stay away from the playground.
Also when I was there and checking Google Maps, I didn’t see any signage stating that dogs were prohibited. So as long as they remain on a lead, I would assume that will be fine.
Thanks
Michael
Are dogs allowed on chamber island
Hi Julie,
I have checked the Sunshine Coast Council website and can find no prohibition for dogs.
Best regards,
Jess
Do you have a barbecue facility there?
Hi Nicki,
No, unfortunately there is no BBQ on Chambers Island. The picnic area has some tables and shaded areas and is better suited for a cold lunch.
Best regards,
Jess
