Mapleton Conservation Park

The Mapleton Conservation Park is a gorgeous destination for bushwalking amongst forest and vibrant flowers, especially in spring.

It’s a great place to take the entire family out for a day in nature.

The paths are wide, and it’s safe for most fitness levels to do. Just be sure to follow the signs on the paths, and you’ll be fine. From here, you can also visit Wappa Falls and Wappa Dam, which is a fantastic idea for adventure seekers. Don’t miss Wappa Park, also known as the Jack Harrison Park, situated on the dam’s banks. There are endless open green spaces here and amenities, including a playground, parking areas, and picnic tables.

The Mapleton Conservation Park and Wappa sites can all be combined in one day due to their proximity. Keep in mind that swimming in the dam is prohibited; enjoy the surroundings. Alternatively, you can also visit the Cooloolabin Dam nearby, and there are several walks you can do from here.

Families can spend a few days or more since there’s so much outdoor fun to be had in this region. Another popular attraction nearby is the Mapleton Lilyponds – right on Obi Obi Road. This beautiful park has several facilities, including shaded picnic areas, BBQs, a playground, a skatepark, and spacious open fields. The biggest attraction here is the massive lily pond which is home to a thriving population of ducks, birds, and other native wildlife. The park was once a swamp, and in 2008 it reopened after it had undergone a complete restoration. It’s now one of the most well-loved destinations in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
