The park is equipped with BBQs that are free to use, picnic tables, and many trees around. Though there’s no shade for the seating areas, just be sure to come in the late afternoons when it isn’t too hot so that you can take in the golden hour sunshine. One of its major highlights is the long terraces that are created through the building of garden beds and boulder walls that descend the slop from Canberra Terrace.

Lions Park has terrific views and lots of wide-open spaces. While here, check out the Kings Beach Bathing Pavilion, which is a heritage-listed building that houses changing rooms, located at the Ormonde Terrace. It was built back in 1937, then eventually became the recipient of the Queensland Heritage Register in 1999. The area has lots of history and outdoor charm in a beautiful location. In fact, it’s one of the best areas in this part of the Sunshine Coast to take your family. Caloundra itself is quickly becoming one of the most popular family holiday destinations, boasting beautiful long stretches of beach and lush mountaintops.

The area also has an almost perfect climate throughout the year, and a laid-back lifestyle that’s easy to fall in love with. There are many beaches here including Kings Beach as well as Golden Beach, Shelly Beach, Dicky Beach, Currimundi, Moffat Beach, and Bulcock Beach. Each of them has its own unique charm but are all suitable for a family day out.

You can’t go wrong by taking your family to Lions Park, then exploring the rest of the town from here.
