Lake Dunethin, Fishing, Camping, Boat Ramp, Maroochy River, QLD
What truly makes Lake Dunethin so special is that there are hardly ever any crowds. So for visitors who want to truly get away from it all, this place is highly recommended. The lake itself is also extremely calm, making it suitable for paddling or kayaking. Seasoned paddlers often start a trip here in George Best Park to the north or Coolum Creek to the south. Many travellers also come here as a start to the Maroochy River Trail experience.
This is the best area of the Maroochy River for people seeking out tranquil locations. Keen birdwatchers frequent the area to find Ibis, Spoonbills, Sea Eagles, and Brahminy Whites, among many other birds.
If you would like to spend a night or two camping, the best place to do so is in the Lake Dunethin Scouts, which is not too far from the lake. Camping is affordable, and canoes are available for hire as well. If you’d like some adventure, the Dunethin Rock is close by too. It offers a short hike that ends in a rocky boulder, where you can take in Maroochy River views and much more.
Lake Dunethin is a gorgeous attraction that should not be missed.
