Gerrards Lookout

Gerrards Lookout in Maleny is a small but picturesque rest stop for visitors exploring the Blackall Range and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

Because of the unique yet spectacular sights that await you, the lookout point is recommended for a visit on its own.

The lookout treats you with views of the Mooloolah River Catchment, where you can see more of Nambour, Mudjimba Island, Mooloolaba and Maroochydore. You may even be able to see further in some points, such as the Mt. Tinbeerwah and the Noosa Heads. Bring along binoculars if you’d like to see further out; regardless, its panoramic views are breathtaking.

Gerrards Lookout is equipped with a small car park and is surrounded by lush greenery. Visitors can relax from the climb at the gazebo with picnic tables and seating provided, so bring your own snacks and refreshments as this is a terrific place to have a sip and a snack.

A memorial plaque of Charlie and Hazel Gerrard is found here, too; they are responsible for donating the land where the lookout is located for the public to enjoy. Car parks for the disabled are available; other amenities include stairs that lead you to the lookout and a ramp.

The park is perfect for a small get together with family and friends. If you have a romantic celebration coming up, this would be ideal too. Spread out a blanket on the rotunda and take in the crisp air with a view. It may be quite a drive getting here, but the views and experience make it all worth it.

Due to the slope of the mountain, the area is also popular for paragliding. So keep an eye out, as you might see them take off up into the sky.
