Eumundi Conservation Park

The Eumundi Conservation Park is an important protected bushland area where threatened wildlife find refuge from increasing urbanisation.

Previously called Eumundi State Forest 351, the park is also open to visitors who can responsibly spend time in this stunning natural environment.

Its history dates back to the late 1800s, which was when the township had just been established – thanks to its abundant timber plantations. It was also popular for its large trees, including pine, beech, blackbutt, cedar, and tallowwood, which were all milled. Thankfully, logging was prohibited starting in 1996, and the area was given conservation status so that all the wildlife and forest could be protected.

The park is home to several tracks suitable for cyclists, walkers, and even horse riders, which vary in length and difficulty. There are tracks as short as 2.3 km up to 6.6 km, giving you many options to explore the area at your own pace. They will take you through magnificent eucalypt forests, sheltered gullies, tranquil creeks, rainforests, and much more. Don’t miss out on the old dam and cattle station that also happens to serve as a good place for a break where you can have a snack and take in the peaceful ambience.

The Eumundi Conservation Park is truly an oasis that can be appreciated no matter what time of year.  The Blackbutt Trail is an easy 4.7km return walk that takes you through the undulating landscapes, grassy terrain, gullies, creeks, rainforests, and wet eucalyptus forests. It’s suitable for walkers, mountain bikers, and horse riders who want to take a leisurely pace discovering the park on gentle inclines.

The Figbird Trail is another easy walk; it’s a 4.3km return walk recommended for avid birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts interested in spotting these beautiful creatures. There’s also the Geebung Circuit and the Ironbark Trail.

The Eumundi Conservation Park has something for everyone.
