The park is named after Dr June Canavan and her friend, Mooloolaba Surf Club Patrol Captain Keith Gracie. Dr Canavan served as the Australian triathlon team’s doctor, a reputable sports physician who worked in the Beijing and Athens Olympics. She worked in the Sunshine Coast for over two decades and was well-known in the sporting circles. Meanwhile, Keith Gracie was Dr Caravan’s patient and close friend. He founded a construction company and also competed in several sporting events in Australia.

Both figures had contributed so much to the Sunshine Coast and sports teams abroad. The Bellvista community thought it was apt to name it after the two individuals who represented youth, a love for the outdoors, and vibrance, which represented what they were about.

Canavan Gracie Recreational Park has a paved path ideal for cycling, jogging, and brisk walking. It’s equipped with simple yet effective gym equipment, including callisthenics and others to help with cardio and strength training. It’s a focal point for the elegant Bellvista Estate community, located on flat coastal plains near the Lamerough Creek that flows to Pumicestone Passage.
